The Last Lecture

Written and Presented by Dr Joel Baetz, Department of English Literature

At the graduation dinner in May, I was fortunate enough to deliver the Last Lecture.  It’s a tradition that Trent has recently picked up, and I was honoured to be asked to deliver the first one at the Durham campus.  The lecture is supposed to be the last one students hear during their undergrad degree. I was hoping that the talk would be entertaining, educational, and inspiring — a tough mark to hit on Friday night, just after dessert.  You can listen to what I came up with below.

Thanks to Dr. Gail Johnson Morris for being kind enough to hit the record button — and for laughing in all the right places.  The clip picks up about a minute into the lecture.

Congratulations, graduates.
