Hello everyone! Picture this…you slowly open your eyes on an early Monday morning and you think to yourself, “Gee, its great not having anything to worry about.” All of a sudden, the gears in your brain begin to spring into action and you realize that there is something to worry about. OH NO! It hits you like a ton of bricks. Today is exam day and I haven’t studied enough! This scenario is scary, isn’t it? Luckily for you, I am here to present you with some tips and tricks for studying which will make that frightening Monday morning nonexistent.
#1 Break It Down.
I think we can all agree that the first time you sit down to study is very overwhelming. Instead of flipping through material you haven’t even looked at since January and becoming completely stressed, try breaking down the content. Make a list of small, achievable study steps, such as summarizing a few chapters and tick each one off as you do it.
#2 Find a study space.
The place that you sit down to study should be comfortable for you. Let’s be honest, you’re going to be spending many hours in the same spot. I suggest testing out a couple of different places in your home or even school and choose a location that will make you less tempted to procrastinate.
#3 Remove distractions.
In this day and age, electronic devices are our BFF’s, but when you have to study they quickly become enemies! I suggest studying in an area away from any computer or laptops and completely separating yourself from any mobile device. I know it could be hard to spend hours away from Twitter with the anticipation of not knowing the recent Kanye West tweet, but it’s totally beneficial for hard core studying!
#4 Relieve the pressure.
The days working up to exam time is very stressful on the mind. I suggest taking some time out from studying to recuperate and relieve some stress. Some helpful ideas may be to take a brief walk around your neighbourhood, take a relaxing bath and maybe even watch a bit of Netflix. Remember, it’s all about balance!
